I found a similar plant called <strong>Jewel Leaf Plant<\/strong>\u00a0in a random indoor gardening book I had from my bookstore employee days. It listed the scientific name <em>Graptopetalum Amethystinum<\/em>. I think this one is <em>Graptopetalum Paraguayense<\/em>.\u00a0I have heard it called many things, but most commonly the scientific name\u00a0<strong>Graptopetalum<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Mother-of-Pearl Plant<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Ghost Plant.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Those few have grown, and I have transplanted cuttings from this mother plant for my friend. I cut the longest pieces with scissors, put them in this cup of water for a few months-adding more water as necessary, and planted them in the new pot after they grew roots.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/georgiagalgardens.com\/?attachment_id=96\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-96\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-96\" alt=\"JLPTransplant\" src=\"https:\/\/georgiagalgardens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/DSCN0144-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/georgiagalgardens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/DSCN0144-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/georgiagalgardens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/DSCN0144-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/georgiagalgardens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/DSCN0144-624x467.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>An amazingly hardy plant, roots will even sprout from fallen petals. A member of the <strong>Jade<\/strong> family, the petals are soft, but don&#8217;t like to be rubbed too hard. Pale green will turn to dusty purple coloring this summer. It lives on the shady back deck until temps. drop below freezing, then moves to a south facing window inside. I think it needs more sun this season, as it&#8217;s never bloomed.\u00a0I hope to see flowers this year.<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/georgiagalgardens.com\/?attachment_id=97\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-97\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-97\" alt=\"JLPNew\" src=\"https:\/\/georgiagalgardens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/DSCN0149-150x150.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>My friend is coming to visit this weekend. I have been promising to transplant cuttings for her for years.
