Good seeds plus good seed mix means you can&#8217;t go wrong, unless slugs are involved. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/georgiagalgardens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/IMG_7813-rotated.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/georgiagalgardens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/IMG_7813-rotated.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2841\" srcset=\"https:\/\/georgiagalgardens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/IMG_7813-rotated.jpg 480w, https:\/\/georgiagalgardens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/IMG_7813-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>My best choice ever (seed startingwise) was to try a new product from my favorite organic fertilizer company, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espoma.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Espoma<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espoma.com\/product\/organic-seed-starter\/\" target=\"_blank\">Espoma Seed Starting Mix<\/a> is part of what made this my best garden year ever! Another part was the superior seeds I purchased from <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rareseeds.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/georgiagalgardens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/IMG_8061-rotated.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/georgiagalgardens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/IMG_8061-rotated.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2843\" srcset=\"https:\/\/georgiagalgardens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/IMG_8061-rotated.jpg 480w, https:\/\/georgiagalgardens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/IMG_8061-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><figcaption>Acclimating in dappled sun<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>I had some old container trays that I recycled &amp; brought home from Cofer&#8217;s when I worked there last year. They have drainage holes and are perfect for starting seeds, but any container with drainage holes can be used. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I transplanted from the seed trays into recycled 4 pack trays on Sept 4th. I mix 1\/2 organic mushroom compost, 1\/2 organic topsoil, &amp; add <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espoma.com\/product\/plant-tone\/\">Espoma Plant Tone<\/a>. Mix these together well, and transplant seedlings. I now move the baby seedling trays onto the deck at night to avoid slugs. This fall, I planted Broccoli, Kale, Cabbage, Brussels Sprouts, Collards &amp; Cauliflower in seed trays. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some types of veggie seeds achieve best results by direct sowing them into the place they will grow until harvest.
